Automobili Lamborghini: Veneno
………..Happy 50th Anniversary Lamborghini
No…this isn’t an intergalactic or extra terrestrial vehicle en route to Mars. It’s the Lamborghini Veneno. Does this car set off the WOW alarm or what? Its wind cheating design is as aerodynamic as it is beautiful. This is contemporary automotive art at the summit of the automaker’s craft. Lamborghini design and build makes this an instant collectible from Sant’ Agata Bolognese with love.
This extremely exclusive model was introduced at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Only three Lamborghini Venenos will be built and sold. It is between a road car and a race car….the design is focused on optimum aerodynamics and cornering stability. The Lamborghini Veneno has a maximum 750 hp and “was” priced at €3 Million Euros plus VAT. As I mentioned, it “was” yes past tense because all three were sold when I wrote this article in 2013. The Lamborghini Veneno is a racing prototype and road car made as a tribute to the 50th Anniversary of Automobili Lamborghini…
The legendary power is generated by an alloy 6.5 litre twelve-cylinder engine mated to a fast shifting 7-speed ISR transmission. The Veneno has five driving modes and permanent all-wheel drive. It rides upon a pushrod suspension with horizontal spring/damper units. The complete chassis is constructed from carbon-fibre reinforced polymer or simply CFRP monocoque technology for the outer works. Aluminum front and rear sub-frames are adapted into this new lightweight design. The inside features innovative Lamborghini patented materials such as Forged Composite and CarbonSkin (a new woven carbon-fibre material lighter than cowhide!). Lamborghini and technology are synonymous…
The Lamborghini Veneno has fenders that optimize the aerodynamic flow to the sides with a network of enormous sills and wheel arches front and rear. Sophisticated aerodynamics ensures perfect airflow to the large openings for engine cooling and intake air. The Veneno weighs 3,190 pounds due to its lightweight carbon-fibre structure. It is 275 pounds lighter than the Aventador. Lamborghini created the excellent power-to-weight ratio guaranteeing awesome-jaw-dropping performance inherent in all Lamborghinis. Its low wind resistance helps it reach a top speed of 221 mph…
The strikingly beautiful rear styling for the Lamborghini Veneno has also been optimized for under-body transitions into a substantial diffuser framing four exhaust pipes divided by a splitter to increase the level of downforce peak. Large vents direct the airflow through the engine bay; six wedge-shaped openings in the engine cover dissipate heat rapidly.
The ‘shark fins” improves efficiency during braking and manages rear end stability by delivering additional downforce at high-speed yaw angles, thus, increasing high-speed cornering performance. The Venenos rear lights repeat the “Y” theme as the headlamps, which is a Lamborghini hallmark. The adjustable rear wing’s design is the product of Motorsport experience and extensive aerodynamic simulation to ensure the best performance of the rear wing interaction with the rear diffuser airflow. Aerodynamic efficiency is built into the car…..not added on as an after thought.
The wheels add to the aerodynamic network. Exclusive 20” wheels on the front and 21” fitted to the rear are equipped with center mountings. A carbon-fibre ring around the wheel rim works as a fan to cool the carbon ceramic brake discs.
Carbon-fibre dominates the cabin, the central tunnel area and the sills. CarbonSkin is used to clad the entire cabin for a sporty-futuristic look. This lightweight material fits perfectly to any form. The patented process involves this unique material dipped into resin that stabilizes the fibre structure allowing the material to remain supple.
The Lamborghini Veneno is painted in an all new grey metallic-look color with gleaming carbon fibre accents. The only car to display all three colors of the Italian Flag as an accent was the one shown at Geneva which will remain the property of Lamborghini. The three sold to customers will display a single color of green, white, and red accents, with each representing a unique piece of automotive art.
Its sleek aerodynamic silhouette slices through the atmosphere with a low drag coefficient, while its functional shape directs airflow where needed. The Lamborghini Veneno has already earned a place in the Lamborghini Hall of Fame. Safety, Speed, and presence were available to a special three owners with this rare experience in motoring.

Another Crazy car from Lambo, it seems this past year they have really let them selves free think and create some outrageous designs.
This year alone they have the Veneno, Sesto Elemento and for the 50th anniversary the Egoista. Lamborghini has always been create at crazy designs that are now becoming more form and Function.
Funny you should mention the Egoista….that is the story for tomorrow……
