The Lamborghini Estoque concept car made its debut and world-wide premiere at the Paris Auto Show in 2008. It is the first four-door sedan in the history of Automobili Lamborghini. The Estoque carved a new automotive niche; a super sports sedan class. Its powerful front mid-engine, permanent all-wheel drive and precision tuned chassis make the Estoque world-class. The long low slung architecture echoes Lamborghini DNA. It’s a Lamborghini like no other. Even the name has a mighty connotation. ‘Estoque’ is a rapier (sword) used by a matador during a bull fight. The Lamborghini Estoque concept is everything that defines a Lamborghini…..uncompromising and unmistakably Italian in four-door configuration.
The Estoque is the synthesis of a relaxed GranTurismo and a dedicated sports car. A sedan with four-doors and four individual sport seats make this supercar a multi-faceted vehicle. Despite its “rudely-elegant” low-slung profile, the Estoque is quite spacious, due in no small part to its very long wheelbase and the rearwards positioning of the front mid-engine. Entry into and exit from this flagship concept car are easy with the wide opening doors.
Per Sant’ Agata Bolognese “The Lamborghini Estoque is the perfect travelling companion, be it en route to business meetings, the theatre, the golf course, or a weekend away with the kids. It is the only car that allows you to share the singular driving pleasure of a Lamborghini with more than one person.”
The Lamborghini Estoque’s architecture makes an elegant statement executed in a sporting fashion. The design echoes Lamborghini style. The bold front styling uses two large vents for the air induction system with a small spoiler in between. This functional front end design gives the Estoque a “vicious” stance and excellent aerodynamic efficiency. The large intakes facilitate the cooling air required for the high performance engine, combined with the spoiler; it is designed to improve aerodynamic poise at high speeds. Staggered tires balance and manage the vehicle’s unsprung weight with 22” wheels to the front and 23” wheels fitted to the rear. Can you say “traction?” The front headlamps feature bi-Xenon and LED technology, they carry styling cues from the Reventon and the Gallardo LP 560-4.
Four individual seats upholstered in the finest Nappa leather cradle the occupants with comfort. All four seats are electrically adjustable adding to the luxury of the Estoque. This is a thoroughbred sports car. Its versatility makes it the perfect addition to the range of Lamborghini super sports cars. The driver and passengers are transported first class in this flagship supercar.
The driver has a large LCD screen displaying important information at a glance. It is available as a classic layout with circular dials or a digital display. Rear seat infotainment systems will be available in many configurations. With the Estoque’s long wheelbase, rear seat passengers can install multi-media equipment, and still have ample leg and headroom.
The Estoque was designed at Centro Stile Lamborghini, their in-house design center opened in 2004. It houses a design studio where designers and model makers combine the culture and spirit of the brand with power and innovation to create new beauty. It is a 31,215 sq ft facility on two floors housing the most modern computerized environment with tooling and production. The Centro Stile is connected by direct link to Lamborghini’s Research & Development departments. This ensures the expedient delivery of ideas to the right people at the right time.
At Lamborghini speed is the key aspect for both its cars and its working processes. What better place to design Lamborghini than at the historical birthplace of all Lamborghinis, this guarantees the super sports cars with the bull insignia will remain exclusive and unmistakably Italian. This is why every new Lamborghini is destined to become a legend and a highly sought after collectible.
The Lamborghini Estoque concept uses a ten-cylinder engine from the Gallardo LP 560-4 with more torque and higher revs than virtually any other engine. An alternate to this engine could be a turbocharged eight-cylinder engine derived from this V10 power plant. The Estoque continues the power trip equipped as permanent all-wheel drive with the power distributed to all four wheels for superior traction on any road condition.
According to Lamborghini, the Estoque is purely a concept vehicle, a design exercise. It has a nearly perfect weight distribution by mounting its engine midway in the drive train and a lower center of gravity close to the vehicle’s vertical axis. Both of these attributes ensure agility and handling precision in this mid-engine vehicle.
Lamborghini celebrates their 50th Anniversary this year. Since its inception, Lamborghini has been bringing innovation to design trends to the rare arena of the world’s most desirable automobiles. A Lamborghini is a high performance athlete with true to its heritage precision, performance and action. The Estoque embodies everything that is Lamborghini….only with two extra doors. As far as the production model of the Estoque, we will have to wait with baited breath…..
