Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse
Lamborghini brought the race track to the open road…………….
Lamborghini has once again….gone where no other automaker has gone before. If it’s radical, unusual, and completely unorthodox…if the styling is totally avant-garde….it’s rolling off the assembly line at Sant’ Agata Bolognese. Automobili Lamborghini will release their Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse September 2013 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Squadra Corse relates to a new division at Lamborghini HQ in Sant’ Agata Bolognese that coordinates all motorsport activities from GT3 to the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo championships in Europe, Asia, and the USA.
The Lamborghini Gallardo Squadra Corse is made very much like the racing version with no modifications. (Lambo means business!) This new and extreme model is based upon the Gallardo Super Trofeo….the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo is the world’s fastest one-make series. (The bull rules!) The Gallardo Squadra Corse uses the same rear wing assembly to help achieve aerodynamic efficiency. It also provides stability during high-speed driving.
The Gallardo Squadra Corse uses a racing inspired removable engine cover with “quick-release” system. Both the rear wing and engine cover are made from carbon composite material. The entire vehicle benefits from Lamborghini’s carbon-fibre technology; by the way, they are industry leaders world-wide. Let me tell you about some of the technology the master craftsmen at Sant’ Agata Bolognese are purveyors.
These are some of the processes in the technology that Lamborghini uses with continual refinement to remain the leaders in the industry:
Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) – Carbon-fibre mats are pre-formed and impregnated with an exact amount of resin, then cured under heat while still in the mold. Lamborghini developed this process using the patented “RTM-Lambo” process. The final mold is no longer a heavy complex metal, but instead, is made from lightweight carbon-fibre parts which speeds the manufacturing process yielding a more flexible and efficient result. The RTM-Lambo process is a low injection pressure that doesn’t require expensive equipment.
Braiding – Components made using RTM-Lambo technology. The carbon-fibre weave technology is derived from the textile industry, modified to make tubular components for special applications such as roof pillars and rocker panels. The woven components are made diagonally interweaving the fibre in several layers.
Prepreg – The carbon-fibre mats used are pre-injected by the supplier with a thermosetting liquid resin which must be stored at a low temperature. The mats are laminated in molds and cured under heat and pressure in an autoclave. Prepreg components are complex to make, but have an extremely high-quality surface finish (Class-A Surface Quality) and are the preferred option for use in visible locations.
These patented processes have been the result of evolutionary processes marking Sant’ Agata Bolognese as purveyors of the art world-wide.
Think of the Lamborghini Gallardo Squadra Corse as a race car in everyday attire. It uses the same running gear as the Gallardo Superleggera. The V10 engine produces an earth-shattering 570 hp @ 8,800 rpm. It’s the outrageous styling that tells the world this is no ordinary grocery-getter. Lamborghini has had supercar experience since the 1960s with the highly successful Miura series that took the world by storm!
Did you also know that it was Automobili Lamborghini that started the supercar niche? Yes in deed, it was the 1966 Lamborghini Miura SV that “socked-it-to ‘em” deep down dirty and nasty cold-blooded yes they did! Lamborghini Miura SV’s were rockets, now this is back in the 1960s when muscle cars were still in their developing stages and there was nothing in the world that could even come close to a Miura!
I remember the havoc this car produced at the tracks; Lamborghini had them all running scared! Then, one by one…other manufacturers released their version, but fell short along the way. Excuse me….there is only one Lamborghini! And in case you hadn’t noticed….I LOVE THEM ALL! Automobili Lamborghini raised the bar AND created the class: supercar………..nuff said.
The Gallardo, like all Lamborghinis are formidable behemoths in performance, it speaks for itself. Leave it to Sant’ Agata Bolognese to build a car that blows the doors off its competition. Ask any Lamborghini owner….how the rest of the pack looks in his rear-view mirror…..The Squadra Corse’s V10 has a unique firing order that emits the sound ‘of a racing car’. The robotized e-gear six speed transmission shifts electronically via paddles behind the steering wheel. This shifts faster than a professional driver-
The architecture of the Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse resembles that of motorsport racing. It is Lean and muscular, ready to turn each driving experience into a totally awesome jaw-dropping adventure in speed. Automobili Lamborghini brings the tracks to the open road. With its carbon-fibre technology, weight is greatly reduced providing a better power-to-weight ratio, thus, better stability and road-hugging abilities. It slices through the atmosphere with maximum aerodynamic efficiency….these are the secrets this aero-efficient wedge of power hides…..only to be revealed to you after hitting the accelerator. This car has indomitable spirit and attitude….not to be found in other makes. A Lamborghini has a singular presence in this niche tour-de-force.
Carbon-fibre and Alcantara grace the racing-inspired interior. It possesses a “rudely-elegant” demeanor with its attitude adjusted to super sports. Your choice of racing buckets or comfortable seats are among the options available to make your Gallardo Squadra Corse ‘yours’. It doesn’t offer gimmicky-trendy-nonsense, just the minimal essentials….nothing to distract the driver while maneuvering this supercar around curves at 100+ mph. Besides….one’s mind should be on the road and not the audio system or texting. Texting at 160 mph folks will get you that 6’x6’ plot of eternal real estate. This irresistible sporting machine begs to be driven. Lamborghini is synonymous with speed. If its posh luxury that you seek, you can drive a Rolls Royce. If it’s power and speed that you expect…the Lambo is the ride.
The Lamborghini Gallardo LP 57-4 Squadra Corse is unmistakably Italian. It proudly displays is heritage with a banner along the flank with green, white, and red….the colors of The Italian flag. Exterior finishes for the Squadra Corse include Giallo Midas (yellow), Grigio Thalasso (grey), and Rosso Mars (red). Matte black accentuates the rear wing with contrasting body color. The hood, front air intakes, rear diffuser, and 19” forged wheels are finished in a high gloss black. The carbon-ceramic brake systems have calipers available in red, black, or yellow.
Power, performance, and presence are superlative in this new and most extreme model in the Gallardo family. It brings the racetrack to the level of “street-legal” but with all of the attributes based on the Gallardo Super Trofeo, the successful racing car from the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo. The Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse will satisfy the most discerning driver. Turn the key and the engine roars to life. Tap the accelerator and the V10 engine catapults the lithe muscular architecture into sheer excitement. If breath-taking performance is what you are looking for, Lamborghini has a car for you. The Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse is a highly concentrated driving machine with precise road manners, stability and safety. No wonder the Gallardo is the top seller at Lamborghini. Happy 50th Anniversary Automobili Lamborghini……the world will always love you!
